Loooooong Weekend
So I woke up at 4:30 on sunday morning to catch a 6:30 flight to Atlanta, Georgia. I visited Georgia Tech. I didn't get back until about 8pm last night.
I actually really liked the school. Overall, the programs are a lot better than they are at Virginia Tech, although I didn't like the campus as much as VT's; although GT DOES have apartments built for the athletes in the '96 olympics that the students use. My host had a 6-bedroom apartment on-campus as a sophomore. Other pluses:
- #1 co-op program in the country. This is something that REALLY interests me. Not only do I get to see how I like what I'm doing, but I also get to make money to help pay for school. It might also be possible for me to co-op overseas.
- over 50 study abroad programs. Another thing that interests me. Australia baby! whooo! haha ... although my dad said that if I go to Australia I'm gonna have to learn to drink beer. hmmm ... maybe I could go meet the Croc hunter?
- it's in the middle of a large city. The plus for this one would be increased opportunities = more jobs and more fun. Although I do admit I'm more of a suburbs kind of person.
I met some cool people there too, however extremely geeky some of the guys there might be (at least the engineers). Although not all of them are geeks. Sure there're the kids who stay in their rooms and play video games all the time, but not everyone do that. Also, contrary to popular belief, people DO have fun at GT. lol ... the students there were telling me how they have a bad rep for not having fun at the school. The one thing that might hurt it is the male/female ratio ... although you know what they say: quality over quantity. :-P There were actually some pretty good looking chicks there ... not to mention the other natives that might be wandering around.
The visit left me completely drained though. I was a zombie today in school. me in a tired state = increaded irritableness/crankiness. I kinda blew up at chris today for the first time ... oi ... poor kid had surgery on Friday. He probably isn't feeling too well. I also blew up at my mom when she got home. *frowns* being yelled at for a scratch on the car is NOT something I want to be greeted with. On top of that I found out that GT gave me absolute shit for financial aid. College is WAY too expensive these days. My parents are probably going to wind up paying about 50k for college between my sister and I ... really not cool.
